Privacy Policy
Rotiva converts your files on your own computer. It does not collect, store or send any personal data, and it does not send your files anywhere.
This policy covers the Rotiva app for Windows, macOS and Linux, including the Microsoft Store version (listed as Rotiva Pro), and this website. Rotiva is made by Denish Chairany and is open source, so you can check everything below in the source code.
The app
- Your files stay on your computer. Conversions run locally with the engines bundled with Rotiva (FFmpeg, ImageMagick, Ghostscript, LibreOffice, Pandoc, 7-Zip) or installed on your system. The converted file is saved next to the original.
- No network connections. Rotiva does not connect to the internet: no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no ads and no update checks.
- Text recognition (OCR) uses the text recognition built into Windows (or Tesseract on macOS and Linux), which also runs on your computer.
- Settings such as the wheel size and language are saved only on your computer.
- Links in the menu (website, GitHub, support) open in your web browser only when you click them. Those websites have their own privacy policies.
Mouse and keyboard
To open the wheel when you press Shift while dragging a file, Rotiva watches whether the left mouse button and the Shift key are pressed. It does not record or store what you type, and nothing leaves your computer.
Microsoft Store
If you install Rotiva Pro from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download, installation and updates under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Microsoft may share anonymous, combined statistics with the developer, such as the number of installs or crash counts. Rotiva itself does not add anything to that.
This website
- The website is hosted on GitHub Pages; GitHub may log technical data such as IP addresses (GitHub Privacy Statement).
- Visits are counted with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and does not track you across websites. Only combined numbers (pages, referrers, browser type, country) are shown to the developer.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the download count is read from the GitHub API, so your browser connects to those services.
Children
Rotiva does not collect any data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date. The history of changes is public on GitHub.
